Origin of name: the literal translation means "mud stone" from Spanish lodo = mud, sludge. We are not sure, whether this refers to the location, or to the visual appearance of the inclusions.

Location: Minas Gerais, Brazil

Handling: quartz is sensitive to heat. Be careful during soldering.
Sensitive to hydrofluoric acid only.
Quartz has no or only very weak cleavage and thus is unproblematic during setting.
