Trade names for a type of rhyolite, a volcanic rock mainly consisting of quartz, feldspar, pyroxene (aegirine) and hornblende (amphibole).

The material is often misnamed jasper. Some dealers say it is a form of stromatolite of fossilized algae. Both of these theories have been proven wrong.
